Next Jazz Cabaret

The next Jazz Cabaret will be November 18, 2011, 7:30 PM, in the Rodale Community Room of the Allentown Symphony Hall on 6th Street between Hamilton and Linden Streets. 

The artist performing is FRANK DI BUSSOLO & Friends.  Frank is renowned as a guitarist for Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, Diane Carol, Vicky Carr, Bob Hope, George Burns, and Dom DeLouise.  We know him in the valley as a faculty member of the Performing Arts High School in Bethlehem.     

Frank's group will bring down the house, call to reserve your tickets NOW because it will sell out!

Benefit Concert on Sunday Nov. 1

Announcing a Jazz Benefit Concert for the Education Program of the Allentown Symphony. Sunday, November 1st, 4:00 - 6:00 PM, $15, at Allentown Symphony Hall.

This past year the Allentown Symphony served 14,000 children from age 3 - high school! 471 students were students of the Allentown School District.

With the state budget cutbacks we have sustained cuts to our education program of approximately $100,000.

Thanks to the many jazz artists that have performed at the jazz cabarets, they have organized to give back to the Symphony. On November 1st, 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM over 25 renowned regional jazz artists are volunteering their time and their talents for this JAZZ BENEFIT CONCERT. Our next Jazz Cabaret will feature the ERIC MINTEL QUARTET, Friday, September 11, 2009, 7:30 PM in the Rodale Room of Symphony Hall. They have performed at the White House.

As long as the music attracts dedicated young musicians like Eric Mintel, jazz will continue to thrive and progress as a voice of freedom.

Jazz Cabaret at Symphony Hall

The Paul Merrill Quartet will be Upstairs at Symphony Hall on Friday, June 5th at 7:30 PM.

The concert will include classic standards and originals, featuring repertoire from the Miles Davis and Gil Evans collaborations.

Trumpeter, composer, and educator Paul Merrill has performed and collaborated with Vincent Herring, Terell Stafford, Maria Schneider, Brian Lynch, Rufus Reid, Wycliffe Gordon, Eric Alexander, Carl Allen, Kevin Mahogany, Darmon Meader, Claudio Roditi, and Steve Gilmore, among others, while recording and arranging for Schanachie and I-town Records.

He has recently been awarded a third commission with the Commission Project (TCP) for Chad Lefkowitz-Brown and his compositions continue to be performed by many college and high school ensembles.

Currently pursuing a DMA in Jazz Studies and Contemporary Media at the Eastman School of Music, Merrill remains active as a clinician, Area All-State director, improvisation teacher, freelance trumpeter, and member of the Central New York Jazz Orchestra.
