Local Artists Exhibit This Weekend

This was submitted by Yodi. This show features artists active in the Allentown Chen Arts Group:

The exhibit is at the Mayor Ed Pawlowski Campaign Headquarter on the west end of the city (2020 West Hamilton Street Allentown Pa). It will be a way for the artist to express their support for the Mayor of Allentown. The opening for the show is tomorrow, Saturday, April 11, 2009 from 1pm to 3pm.

Mayor Pawlowski is a long time supporter of the arts in all forms. The artwork will be displayed from April 11, 2009 through May 19th during the primary; a secondary show will be hung during the general election. So stop in often. A few of the artist will be on hand to discuss their artist styles. The artist include Chris Neyen, Gregory Coates, Mohamed Mansour, Rick Hildenbrandt, and Yodi Duane Vaden.

Perhaps you can explain why the Mayor killed the Theatre Outlet. The Arts Walk is a disaster - no Art (no new art - and his plans for art are now elsewhere).

I have been a visible supporter of the Arts for many years, through the Open Space Gallery, the Theatre Outlet, and other endeavors. I donated a week of my life for many years to Mayfair. I have walked the walk.

Do not confuse the Mayor's hope to get anything happening at any cost to support his renaissance. It can vanish as quickly as it appeared.

Hi Dick,

Perhaps you would like to support the Allentown Chen Arts Group? We are a grassroots group of local artists and community volunteers. Over the years, my husband and I have been invovled with the same organizations you mention. I don't know what happened with The Theatre Outlet, because I was not involved at the time it closed.
The mayor offered his space to the Chen Arts Group artists to exhibit their work. He has been supportive of our group. The focus of our group is have shows in Allentown and give exposure to local artists, which helps build much needed social and economic capital for the city. We have accomplished a lot in a year, and we have plans for future shows. Hope to see you at a Chen Arts Event!
