REMINDER: CHEN ARTS GROUP MEETING THIS SATURDAY!

This update is a reminder about our next meeting THIS SATURDAYOctober 22nd at 6:30pm at the House of Chen Restaurant. At this meeting we will be discussing:
  • The possibility of a group show in early 2012. And another possible show in the spring of 2012.
  • To discuss the Chen Arts Group in general and whether members still have interest in meeting once a month and to also get feedback on ideas some current members have for the future of the group.
If you are interested in attending the October 22nd meeting (in three days), please RSVP to chenarts.info@gmail.com and let us know if you will be attending. If you have already RSVP'd then no further action is necessary---I have added you to the meeting list for Saturday.

For those who would like to attend but who have not RSVP'd, the rsvp process is to assess every one's interest in attending the meeting and for an accurate headcount for the restaurant.

Additionally, the Chen Arts blog has been updated with a new look and slightly different format for ease-of-use. Please let us know if you are interested in attending the meeting and we look forward to seeing everyone on the 22nd! New members are also welcome!

Thanks again,
The Chen Arts Group

“though some give more than others in the experience of their energy
unfolding through my lines onto paper. Each are intimate in their own
way.” Meneeley’s work is included in major public and private

Exhibit Coming to Theatre 514

Submitted via e-mail:

"Alternative Perception" Exhibition: Dec. 2 at Theater 514 on 19th Street, Allentown

Once again the Allentown arts community is stretching the boundaries of 'normal' with an exciting, debut exhibition of German-born artist and sculptor, Steven Condra - just in time for the Holidays!

Civic Theatre and the new, up-and-coming German-American artist invite all Chen Arts Group
members and their friends to attend the “Alternative Perception” exhibition, which will be Condra's first solo show in the US.

The exhibit will host an engaging sample of Condra's most recent abstract pen & ink work and sculpture at Civic Theatre's "Theatre 514" location on 19th St. from 5 - 7.30pm

With the help of Allentown's West Side Poetry and Word Wednesday poets, the “Alternative Perception” exhibition was created to foster tolerance and acceptance by exposing different views and opinions of Condra's work via the medium of 'Spoken Word'. Poets from the two groups will be bringing his art alive by expressing their thoughts and emotions about the pieces that speak to them the most.

An integral part of Condra's philosophy is giving back to the community in which he now lives, and a percentage of all proceeds from the event will be donated to Civic Theatre.

Come join us on December 2, from 5 - 7.30pm to celebrate an evening of abstract expression and a chance to meet new friends!
